Our Homeschooling Life

If you are interested in homeschooling your child, I promise you, you are capable! You do not need a teaching degree, or fancy supplies. In the 1970's there were 13,000 homeschooled children in the US. As of 2024, there are over 5 million! I just couldn't say enough good things about homeschooling. I recognize it is not for every family though.

If you are interested in learning more, I suggest starting with a quick google search of "Homeschooling laws of (the state you live in). Laws will vary from state to state on when you need to start "reporting" your child as a homeschooler.

Another great resource to learn more are Facebook groups for your local area- check to see if you have any of those. Don't forget to check your local libraries too!

Currently, we've been homeschooling my 2-year-old daughter in "preschool" curriculum & she's surpassed every milestone expected of her at her age, and then some. I contribute this to our ability to work together one on one. We do the majority of our learning through play-based activities & real-life situations. I also take 10-15 minutes of "structured" learning where we sit down & do some book work together like tracing, or drawing.

For over a year now, I have also run an in-home homeschool co-op which I explain how I started here.

Another wonderful place to begin your homeschooling journey is through making a "Daily Rhythm" for you and your child/children. I have a lot of examples of these on my Instagram & often post homeschooling ideas & extra plans for Instagram subscribers!
